How to Enjoy a Holiday at Home

There are many different times of the year that we are off for holidays be it Thanksgiving, Christmas, or even the changing of seasons. If your family doesn't plan on taking a holiday trip, you may think that you'll be bored, but there are so many enjoyable things to do at home.

1
Think of what you need to do. That doesn't sound enjoyable, but if you take care of any necessary tasks now, then you won't have to worry about them later. This includes anything from school projects to cleaning up your room. With the right attitude (and maybe some of your favorite music), these things won't be that bad.

2
Think of things you've wanted to accomplish. If school has been taking up most of your free time, you now have an opportunity to do what you want. Maybe the piano has been calling your name, wanting you to learn a new song. Perhaps you've been itching to beat the boss level of that awesome game you got for your birthday. Whatever it is, do it!

3
Spend some time with family. They may not be the easiest people to contend with, but if you put out the effort to spend quality time with your family, you'll grow closer together. It's not that hard to do. If there is a new movie on TV, why not make a family movie night out of it? If that's not your thing you could always play a game (outdoor or indoor are both fun).

4
Spend time outdoors. Even if you have a small backyard, the outdoors can be the ultimate cure to holiday break boredom. The number of things you can do out there is numerous. Don't be afraid to connect with your early days of life by swinging, jump roping, or even some hopscotch with a sibling. It's not dorky, it actually can be a lot of fun. In winter, you can still go out if you bundle up. You just may not want to be outside as long.

5
Have fun while you can. Go somewhere you haven't been and have a picnic, play in the park, hang out with your friends, walk the dog, go for a jog, play with your pets. Just make sure to actually have some fun.

6
Slow down. You can do this with others sometimes, but other times it's necessary to be alone. During these short, solitary times, don't get on the Internet or any other technology device. This may be mind numbing rather than relaxing. Take the time to contemplate who you are but not negatively. Be positive. With some soul searching, you may sort out some troubles you've had in life. This can be done through writing, reading, painting, or just sitting and thinking.
